Polistirenul expandat se depozitează în spatii uscate, aerisite, ferite de umezeală. Nu se recomandă expunerea la radiatiile solare, intemperii şi surse de foc.
Transportul se face cu mijloace de transport, astfel incar să se asigure integriatatea produsului pe timpul transportului.

Se interzice prezenta surselor de foc deschis (scantei, flacări, et). De asemenea , se interzice utilizarea echipamentelor electrice şi a uneltelor neconforme cu normele in vigoare referitoare la manevrarea substantelor inflamabile. Pentru stingerea incendiilor, se recomandă CO2 spumă chimică sau nisip.
